ABOUT DOXA VINTAGE WATCHES
DOXA WATCH HISTORY
Doxa, a Swiss watchmaking company, was established by Georges Ducommun in 1889, initially specializing in crafting high-quality timepieces for women. However, it gained widespread recognition in the 1960s for its dive watches, notably the iconic Doxa Sub 300 introduced in 1967, distinguished by its vibrant orange dial. Throughout its history, Doxa has been celebrated for its technical innovations in watchmaking, particularly in the realm of dive watches, which have appealed to both professional divers and recreational enthusiasts. Despite experiencing periods of decline, Doxa was rejuvenated by passionate collectors and enthusiasts, and today, it continues to produce dive watches that uphold its legacy of quality, innovation, and distinctive design. The brand's rich history and enduring appeal make it a notable presence in the world of horology.
DOXA BY SYNCHRON
In 1968, the brand became part of ASUAG, being integrated into their newly formed Synchron group, alongside Ernest Borel and Cyma. Throughout the 1970s, these three brands were marketed jointly. During the peak of the quartz crisis, the brands under the Synchron group were divested, with Aubry Frères acquiring Ernest Borel and Doxa in 1978. In Europe, Doxa emerged as Aubry's flagship brand following the acquisition.

DOXA AND JACQUES COUSTEAU
Doxa vintage watches hold a number of intriguing facts that captivate collectors and enthusiasts alike. Among these, the Doxa Sub 300 stands out as one of the first dive watches to feature a unidirectional rotating bezel, enhancing safety for divers by allowing them to track elapsed time underwater. Another fascinating aspect is the development of the iconic Doxa orange dial, chosen for its high visibility in murky waters, setting a trend in dive watch design. Additionally, Doxa's collaboration with professional diver Jacques Cousteau in the late 1960s further elevated its reputation in the diving community. Over time, the rarity and historical significance of vintage Doxa watches have made them prized possessions among horological aficionados, with certain models commanding considerable value in the collector's market.
