Landeron SA was a Swiss watch movement manufacturer that produced a wide range of mechanical movements for watches from the 1870s to the 1970s. One of the most notable movements produced by Landeron was the Landeron 248. The Landeron 248 was a manual-winding chronograph movement that was first introduced in the 1940s. It was a highly regarded movement that was used in a number of popular watches from the era. The movement had a frequency of 18,000 beats per hour (or 2.5 Hz) and was capable of measuring elapsed time up to 30 minutes with its central seconds hand and minute subdial. One of the unique features of the Landeron 248 was its "cam and lever" mechanism, which was used to control the start, stop, and reset functions of the chronograph. This mechanism allowed for precise and reliable timing, and it was highly regarded by watchmakers and collectors alike. The Landeron 248 was used in a number of popular watches from the 1940s to the 1960s, including chronographs from brands like Zodiac, Tissot, and Omega. The movement remained in production until the 1970s, when it was eventually phased out in favor of newer, more advanced chronograph movements. Today, vintage watches powered by the Landeron 248 are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts for their reliability, precision, and historical significance.
